Who better to discuss ‘Jesus Blesses Little Children’ in Mark 10:13-16, than the wonderful Linden Boothby? As well as being a gifted teacher, Linden works with the PottersHeart, an Adult Education Charity operating in some of the poorest communities in rural Kenya. By providing often quite basic education in health, nutrition, farming and business skills, Linden and her team enable village families to work their way out of poverty. If you’d like to find out more, or indeed contribute to what Linden does, you can read about PottersHeart here: https://www.pottersheart.org
By the way, if you think you already know what this episode is going to be about, a rather sentimental portrait of Jesus loving ‘little children’ – think again. As is so often the case with Mark, the apparent simplicity of the story masks a rich contextual and historical background – one that has profound implications for our understanding of the divine and what it means to live well.
